About the K-12 Education Specializations

Students who intend to teach biology in K-12 educational systems may pursue a B.S. in Biology with specialization in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or Special Education. Each of these degrees requires 120 credit hours of coursework, with 45 upper-division credit hours (3000-4999 level) including 24 credit hours of upper-division Biology courses. Programs differ in the list of required courses within the College of Education. Please see the advising sheets below for more information.


Focus of Study

Degrees of B.S. in Biology with a specialization in education balance a broad biological education in the Biology department with practical and theoretical courses offered through the College of Education at UCCS.
